The Aroma Lab

The Antonina Leśniewska Museum of Pharmacy comes alive with the scent of herbs, resins, and oils! This is exactly what a pharmacy might have looked like a hundred years ago. Antique furniture, rows of glass vials, porcelain dishes, and old pharmacy tools create the perfect conditions for the senses to work.

Smell is one of the most important, albeit invisible, “exhibits” of the Antonina Leśniewska Pharmacy Museum. It filled old pharmacies when pharmacists prepared medicines from dried plants, roots, and essential oils. During the workshops, we draw on this tradition. With your own hands, you will compose a fragrance based on natural oils, learning about the healing properties of plants and old recipes.

The most important thing here is the action: mixing, tasting, smelling, deciding. Creating something yourself not only gives you satisfaction, but also a moment of mindfulness. It allows you to slow down, focus on your senses, and create something truly personal. Each composition is different, just like the people who prepare it.

The Aroma Lab is a great idea for a quiet afternoon in the Old Town: for a date, a meeting with friends, or a family trip to the museum. It is also a way to take a break from the daily rush. Immerse yourself in a world where knowledge, craftsmanship, and the pleasure of creation come together in one place!

The workshops last 45 minutes. Last admission at 4:45 p.m.

Instructor: Anna Bijałd – education specialist at the Antonina Leśniewska Museum of Pharmacy.

A graduate of Herbal Medicine and Phytotherapy at the Jan and Jędrzej Śniadecki University of Technology in Bydgoszcz. Her interests focus on the use of medicinal plants – both in the context of traditional methods of treatment and contemporary possibilities for utilizing their health-promoting properties.
